WAKASAN ABUSO SA KABATAAN

 The 2025 National Children's Month (NCM) theme, “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” (End Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials: Fight for the Safety and Rights of Children!), is a timely and critical call to arms. The theme developed through consultations with Filipino children who showed that social media presents dangerous hazards to their safety and dignity which now exist in digital spaces. The OSAEC-CSAEM framework shows that people use the internet for educational purposes and social interactions but it has developed into a dangerous space where abusive activities occur. The observance acts as a vital force which unites government agencies and parents and educators and private sector members to work together against online child abuse.

This legislation establishes a vital advancement since it presents a modern legal system which successfully tackles the various challenges associated with digital abuse. The law defines online sexual exploitation while it requires Internet Service Providers and social media platforms and financial institutions to assist law enforcement by blocking harmful content and stopping financial transactions for these illegal activities.

    It started like any other day just another task to clean up the garbage in the garden, just another day in the life. But then something changed. What was normal became reflective. What reflective became transformative of my space, my mind, my agency, my spirit.        I needed to clean the garden because fallen fruits decorated my yard in more numbers than I could count rotting, decaying, bruised, crushed, trampled.   The theme of the Teacher's Month 2025 “My Teacher, My Hero” is, without a doubt, a very good reflection of the tremendous impact that the educators have outside the classroom, a feeling that I can't help but feel when I think about the guidance of Sir Julius Pajarillo. His heroism is not just the lack of extraordinary deeds, it is the constant, unchangeable, and not-to-be-challenged kindness and prompter presence that he brings to me as his pupil.  Both as a teacher who is fully committed and a coach who is addicted to the practice of journalism, particularly radio broadcasting, Sir Julius is able to pull up the curtain gray with stale subjects and people, he announces, "here comes the discovery of self-worth."
